Is Your Home Dirty or Is That Soot?

In a recent conversation with one of our customers that had a fire damage to their home, we talked about how sometimes the damage from soot can not be seen right away. When a subtle source - like a fireplace - is involved, it is only in cleaning the area or noticing that something is just not right that the damage can be found. This could be the white paint on your wall looking gray, or a swipe of a wall or ceiling shows you now having two different colors on it. Soot can be found in many places that you think is something else:

• webs can be formed and look like spider webs,
• dust on counter tops
• "dirt" on blinds
